Somerville Community

The Somerville area discusses various freedom colonies including Centerline and Birch Creek. We closely focused on the Sweet Home Church and the partners of the community let us in on stories from their past.

The first church service was held at Sweet Home Church in 1890. While the church was rebuilt in remodeled in 1919, 1945, and 1951, many original aspects are still there, such as the original log that parishioners sat upon.
